An early E-12 based Alpina modified car. Still has 14" wheels but wider, deep dished; lowered suspension, airdam and graphics. True Alpinas have special production #. Some distinguishing features of E-12 cars: smaller wheel lips, antenna on front fender. Usually valance, not airdam, stock on earlier cars. |

US E-12 car has been lowered, an '86 airdam and M-Technics rear spoiler
have been added along with M5 polished throwing star 17" wheels.

A rare 1979 E-12 based Convertible or Cabriolet. This one is a UK right-hand drive Euro. Convertibles were not a factory option, but were available through certain dealers as an aftermarket option. They were done by a body shop that specialized in convertible conversions. In the 1980's it was about an $8-9,000 add-on! No records available as to the number of conversions performed. Guesses range in the 50-200 range worldwide. |
