door top trim difference
The attached picture shows the difference between the left and right door trim shape. When you put LHD trims in a RHD car (and vice versa) the wrong shape is on the wrong side so it does not match the dashboard profile.

Re: door top trim difference
So are the ones you have shown above LHD or RHD model and are they series 1 or series 2, I seem to remember that I was told series 1 dont fit series 2 but I thought that was just the door pull is different
these are the ones I was intending on buying which are clearly different handed to what you have shown

Thanks Dave M6 ,
you helped me dodge a bullet there, So we can categorically say series 1 will fit series 2 if you are prepared to cut the trim to suit series 2 door pulls but LHD will not fit RHD cars and vica versa, and rather than muck about I have just put my original top trims in to get resurfaced by the vacform method which surprisingly works out cheaper than buying a good set from OS even if they were LHD and wouldn't fit

Re: door top trim difference
Then there are the leather covered ones as offered in the M6/L6/Half-line/full-line??? Until BMW stopped covering them in leather because of the problem with the leather cracking on the dashboards. I know the trim pieces in my 1987 M6 are leather covered and two-tone Natur and a darker "mocha" brown. I was thinking of swapping them out as I have a whole set of LHD black non leather trim pieces out of a 1985 635 but, since mine our in great condition I will keep them for sake of originality.
