Aerial grinding noise

Post by Theantony »

Hi.

My aerial makes an horrendous grinding noise when it goes up, and it only goes up half way. Is it broke or are there any serviceable parts inside. The aerial isn’t bent at all.

Thanks.
Antony.

Most likely the gear drive is stripped, but you could try cleaning the sections with WD40 or some similar solvent and see if that helps.

There used to be a Hirshmann kit for repairing/rebuilding their antenna, but it was a real stinker to install.

Do a search in the "Tech Section". Search Antenna Repair for repair information. Roger

Most likely the plastic gear in the mast is broken. You may need to remove the whole unit and take it apart as pieces may be stuck in it.
