Blinkers & hazards not working (ground or relay)

Post by SORIANOTRON »

Hello sharksters,

Blinkers and hazards no longer work.

The bulbs check out fine as do the fuses.

When I engage the signal marker the dash does not “click” nor do the hazards.

I understand the flasher relay under the steering column might be the culprit...any other common causes?

Thanks

I agree that sounds like a problem at the flasher module.

Thanks for the quick reply, using archived posts I was able to remove (extremely difficult) the flasher relay. I cleaned the contact points, reinstalled and boom.

I have an 89 635 which has an AIRBAG. In order to remove the plastic shroud that houses the relay, the steering wheel must be removed.

With some elbow grease and determination I was able to pull the relay out through the removable clip at the base of the steering column WITHOUT removing the steering wheel.

GOOD LUCK, it is NOT easy, but can be done.

Hope this helps someone in the future
