1985 M635 Front Bumper Part and Handle

Post by Emmanuel M6 »

Greetings members hope you are all well and on the road.
Since my front strut collapse, and a dead cam sensor, I have been without incident, thankfully.
So I am hoping to get a decent blowover this year and I have been gathering up parts I need. There are two parts I cannot get from BMW; firstly there is a piece of trim from the front bumper which is no longer available. It is missing from my bumper's previous rebuild as BMW said it was no longer available. I have to replace the top chrome piece so I would like the trim/rubber/gasket type thing for the rebuild. Can anyone please identify this part for me via realoem if possible or other image? Could anyone point me in the direction of a breaker who has/may have one? I don't know what the part is called officially or otherwise, so any help with that would be helpful too. I live in Corby, Northampton, but i'm ready to drive wherever to get a decent one. Maybe they could post it.
Secondly, my driver's door handle has the lock cover missing from the handle, I know it's only a little thing but I would like one as the plastic barrel is exposed and looks damaged. It doesn't look right. Does the part come with the handle or is it a separate part. Identity and diagram would be good again please.
That's it, thank you for taking time to read this plea regardless of whether you can help or not. The place I am thinking of using for the blowover is Classicpreservation of Wythall in Worcestershire, If anyone knows of them and has anything to say I would be glad to hear it.
I hope you all continue enjoying classic BMWs without incident or injury.
Peace.

No idea what part you need. Here's a link to realoem

Please pick the part. It is also hard to tell what bumper you have.

Hey Emmaunel,

I dare say the scrap car will have the plastic edging. I'll look tomorrow.

The cover for the keyhole is a royal pain: it is crimped on to the alloy barrel in a "one time only" fashion. I used sikaflex to reattach mine.

Cheers,

Rob

Hi Emmanuel,

Is this what you need? It's all complete but has splashes of paint on it (they scrape off with a finger nail).

Rear of bumper is quite rusty - you can see my failed attempt to remove front trim piece. Much shearing!

Cheers,

Rob
