'87 Fog light source

Post by 7364tgm »

I am looking for a drivers side fog light or source of supply for my '87 635csi. The light is the 4sq corner Hella model with three mounting lugs into the spoiler. I bought these years ago but it seems that these are NLA from most sources. I only need one but will buy a set if need be.

Thanks Guys,

That is correct, 3 pages of posts with no conclusion as to who may have these fog lights. I read and re-read this post before asking the question again.
Bottom line, I still need a complete light for an '87 if anyone has one.
Thanks for a great forum.

Try posting in the parts wanted section. These are not parts from BMW in Germany but were BMWNA parts. I believe it was also stated that the supplier nolonger produced them. I have helped others source these in the past and sell used ones as quickly as I can get them. Check the e30 sites as well because the alum bumper cars that had spoilers used the same ones. As you can see by previous discussions: there is not a source known so everyone will be happy if you can find one and share it.

Er, not quite . . .

If the model in question truly is an '87, then it will have rectangular fog lamps, not the version with the one rounded corner :-k

And as Todd mentioned, I guess we're all still searching for a genuine new replacement source

Yep, it a true '87 alright! Rectangular lights with square corners. Maybe we need to develop an adapter that would accept the rounded corner light. That would get all of us owners out of trouble with spares available all over. Something to think about.
Thanks guys, I'll keep looking.

Tom:

Are you still looking for one of these? If so, please send me your e-mail and I will shoot you a couple of pictures of a used one that I have. Having trouble with my PM outbox, so posting this instead.

Have you checked BavAutos website? Seems like they might have ones from Bosch. Not sure if these are the correct size though. I have not tried them, but I will be needing some new lenses too pretty soon.

I had one on order from BavAuto as they told they could order one from the 'Motherland'. That went on for over 3 months and they finally refunded my money. Like trying to find hens teeth!

Ron - Those are euro fog lights for e24 but they were also used on the US e28 535is and M5.

My previous post, those lights are for a Euro car.
But I am pretty certain I found an alternative.

I bought a single lens off EBAY and it fit. I just went a
head and ordered this pair and I will report how they work.
