Rear aircon unit for UK car

Post by m6sharkboy »

I’m considering putting in the complete rear aircon unit that’s normally found in US cars. My car is a UK registered 1986 M635CSi which I’ve owned since 1993. I bought the centre section of the rear armrest on eBay a few years ago. I’d like to eventually purchase the remaining pieces of trim as well as the mechanical components to complete. My question is, are the parts only available via eBay or are some of the components available from BMW themselves? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

That's an adventurous plan!
If I were you I would look up your car and a US model from the same year on bmwfans.info and compare the components.
You can still get quite some parts at BMW, but not everything.

I bought a US rear AC set up a few years ago and fitted it to my 1985 M635; it came with the fan and controls but I didn't get all the pipes so I just run it as a coolbox and/or vent fan.
