AC Condenser?
Anybody know anything about this condenser?

Places that sell it list it as "high efficiency for R134a systems" but it doesn't say if it's a parallel flow one.

Unless it's truly a perfect bolt-on fit, like the one I have from Classic Auto Air, it's just as easy (and likely cheaper) to buy an $80 generic condenser. It actually looks like the one I have started out as one, with the appropriate mounts and fittings welded on.

How did they adapt the fittings on your condenser? Universals usually have the fluid connections at the top and bottom on the passenger side. Do you have a pic by chance?

There are hard lines welded onto the top and bottom ports on the PF condensor, to duplicate the configuration of the original serpentine comdensor:slofut wrote:DW,dwcains wrote:Unless it's truly a perfect bolt-on fit, like the one I have from Classic Auto Air, it's just as easy (and likely cheaper) to buy an $80 generic condenser. The core of the dondensor is approx. 22" x 16". It's very nicely fabricated and also duplicates the original brackets for mounting the fan to the condensor and the condensor to the car.

I'm sure Classic has some left in stock, just a question of spending $300 + shipping. I don't think it's that big a deal to use a generic, and at around $80 that leaves lots of cash for brackets and an aftermarket fan. Either way you'd need new hoses.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like they just modified a universal condenser. I wonder if we could talk them into just making adapter hard lines that screw on to the existing universal condenser fittings?

I don't imagine Classic would be interested in that, as they'd rather sell you the $300 condensor, but a good A/C or hydraulic hose shop wouldn't have any difficulties. Might be easy to bring both the original condensor and the universal/generic to the shop, and have them use the original as a pattern.
You might also be able to piece together something with the various 90-degree and 45-degree fittings which are available.
