FS - selling early model h1/h1 ECE headlight set

I have some euro headlights with city light for early model up to 1981 or us spec up to 1987 retrofit. Thinking of selling as I have another set and was looking to clear some space and consolidate projects. Hella ece version headlights, new high beams. Ebay sellers offer h4 setup or sealed beams, no...

Re: I'll Be Busy For a While - 1979 Euro 635CSi (M90 Powered)

Yasin,

Can you comment on the process of removing undercoating you described on page 3?

Also curious how it looked before the photo you shared... I think I need to do this on my early car and am not quite sure what I will be getting into, or how to remove the coating...

You should probably be running Bosch "Silburs". Back in the Bill Wolf (EFI Guru) days, when we talked at length on Roadfly about the L-Jet system, he was of the mind that these were the only compatible plugs for the car. https://www.boschsparkplugs.net/bosch-wr9ds-0242225538-silver-spark-...

Wow, that looks like a great option! I read some reviews of people who used this vendor and they seemed pretty happy overall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kadxxNVFHcQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=n7Zac1JTx5Q Shame shipping is so much, though it would probably still be worth it ...

Bad luck with both of those, i have only had 1 bad bomb in 12 years and 5 cars. But great job identifying it and at least you can replace both at once!

Re: 1979 635CSi Euro - Henna Revival Project

With a few days off, I was working through parts inventory to see what I could do about installing components like the bumpers and cleaning out the stash of parts in the trunk. I did bleed the brakes late last year, so those should be ready to test out soon. I went through the bits and pieces and my...

Re: 1979 635CSi Euro - Henna Revival Project

Thanks guys. Since the last update, I continued on some other items like working on assembling the bumpers and lights and trying to get the lights all operational with a new turn signal switch. I did that and now have lights on the car working. Interestingly, the federalization group for this car si...

Re: 1979 635CSi Euro - Henna Revival Project

I guess it is time for a 3 week update since we had some excellent weather here lately for December! I worked on cleaning the engine since I had the intake off and access to most of the area under the hood. It is looking quite clean and much better than before! You can see the paint and many less la...

Re: '83 633CSi - running so rich it stalls

figured out the random stalling/dying issue by process of elimination...it was the main relay! a $20 relay caused loads-O-worries. it wasn't the reference sensors, wasn't the fuel pressure regulator, wasn't the fuel pump, wasn't my two ECU's, wasn't the fuel pump relay...it was a simple and easy to...

Re: Cold start injector

removing the old hose may be the most difficult part! I often wonder how frequently these injectors are operating or if they fail... thinking this could be the cause of my tougher cold start of my '88 535iA. If it doesn't fire, you won't get the amount of fuel you need to properly. On the flip side ...

Re: WTH? parasitic battery drain coming from main relay?

Double check that relay is the correct one as far as the pinout: Are you sure your relay has the pins in the right physical location? Here are the views, looking at the bottom of the relay: BMW e28 main relay: 87– 86| 87– 85| 30| Most other e28 relays: 87– 30| 85| 86| So you see, if your main relay ...

Scott, not sure why, but I still can't see your images. Something with your hosting or some interaction with the board. Here's the headlight and washer wiring I know of for early models: https://bigcoupe.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=9916 In the mean time, I also recall why I didn't go with S38/M8...

Awesome project and great save. I remember when this car was for sale on FB Marketplace. Subscribed. I am not sure I even saw this listed for sale formally online! Thanks Scott, I remember reading some of your posts on here when I bought my car back in 2010! Not sure why your photos aren't working but the hosting appears ok. I think he saw some posts or photos of my 1980 635CSi and realized a car he obtained had a similar specification. I told him I didn't know of anybody looking for a project but I asked for detai...

Good news, today I was able to get the car started and with the oil pressure light going out! I may not have had the second cable connected to the battery, I am not sure, but I got a replacement starter and it seems to spin smoother on the bench, so I am pleased. After a successful start up and a fi...

That's incredible, but aren't those the basic "comfort seat" profile, i.e. very little side bolsters? from what ive seen the comfort seats are way more desirable. I have them in my 633 and when i replaced them, plenty of people wanted to buy my old trashed ones to replace their sport seat...
