Strictly my cars, still got the ones in bold;

1979 Opel Ascona 2.0 S/R - ochre yellow - wrote it off twice before I finally killed it - first ever car, like this but not this exact car

Image

1973 2002tii in Verona Red; I actually bought it with another , completely rotten, 2002 in white for spares. Restored it completely once but the tin-worm was extensive and eventually I sold it for spares/repair. It wasn't this exact car as I don't have a digital photo of it;

Image

When that was gone I immediately bought one of these (again not this, but like this), a 1985 635CSiA in Articblau with full electric seats and all the toys working; it got written off by a dozy Ford Galaxy owner who reduced the proud nose to a crumpled wreck...

Image

Immediately that was paid for by the insurance I went and got this, a 1982 635CSiA in balticblau with recaro seats and lsd; I bought this in 1996-ish and still have it...

Image

1993 Audi 80 Avant - black, black leather, 2.8 quattro, RS2 bits and pieces had been added by a PO, competent but dull, excellent in a Polish winter with heated seats and 4WD - it looked like this...

Image

At some point in time the balticblau car suffered multiple intermittent electrical failures so while I was trying to fix it I bought a 1989 635CSiA Highline in Diamond black with lotusweiss sports leather...

Image

I sold the Highline when I upgraded to this, my 1985 M635CSi in alpineweiss with taurusrot sports leather; I've had it restored and it is my garage queen.

Image

Then I decided I needed an estate car; I had ummed and ahhed about another Audi Avant for years but I eventually stumbled upon this, one of just 64 UK manual cars, a 1995 540i Touring with a six speed manual gearbox; Orientblau with black leather. I changed the comfort seats to sports seats and hoped I would keep it forever as it was immaculate... until it got written off by a sleepy taxi driver.

Image

So how do you replace a 540i/6 Touring? With an M5 Touring of course. 1993 in black, black, blackity black  - it lasted until the engine blew and the bodywork was too crusty to justify trying to save it...

Image

I still needed an estate car so while the M5 got scrapped my Alpina interest started when I found this, a 2001 Alpina B10 V8 Touring in Individual steel grey with Individual silver-grey leather; it's been through the miles as my work car/van and isn't quite as minty fresh these days but it still works beautifully...

Image

Over the years I had read about a very rare E34 Alpina Touring - the B10 4.6 of which one solitary car was made in rhd. When it popped up for sale I dropped everything and bought it...

Image

Of course I wasn't yet done with my Alpina addiction and I felt I needed a V12 in my life so after years of tracking the cars down I found the B12 I wanted; an E38 Alpina B12 5.7 Langversion, one of just two cars ordered for the UK...

2001 Alpina B10 V8 Touring (1 of 12 rhd)
1997 Alpina B12 5.7 L (1 of 2 rhd)
1995 Alpina B10 4.6 Touring (1 of 1 rhd)
1985 BMW M635CSi (1 of 524 rhd)
1982 BMW 635CSiA (1 of 100's left from the 1000's made and still valiantly fighting against a rusty grave)

Fortunately Sharkfan is a good kind of crazy. And he has to drive on the wrong side of the road so he has to sit in the wrong seat 😂

And of course I agree that is some kind of dedication

I said I was humbled...

1972 Vega (put a 400 small block in it)
1986 Chevrolet Sprint (wife)
1987 Merkur XR4Ti
1992 Honda Civic
2002 Saturn wagon (wife)
Multiple minivans (wife)
Multiple Buick Rendezvous (wife)
Multiple Chevrolet Malibus (wife)
Chevrolet Equinox (wife)
1988 BMW M6

After the Saturn I started driving company cars that get replaced every few months (General Motors). As part of the deal I need to also need to keep a relatively current MY GM vehicle in the household, so my wife has gone through a few.

From what I can remember, with lots of overlapping periods of ownership:

—‘53 Porsche 356 coupe, in 1969;
—Many many Volvos from ‘55 444 and ‘65 544, through every imaginable version of Amazons/123GT, P1800, 140’s, 164’s, 240’s, 260, 740’s and 960’s;
—VW Jetta1, Corrado;
—Audi 5000TQ, 200TQ, 90CS;
—BMW 2002’s, 2002tii, 635CSi;
—MBz 300CE, 320TE, E420...

Also an IH Scout, a real Jeep V8 Cherokee, and a Pathfinder.
And very briefly (like weeks), a Fiat 850 spyder and a Simca.
And a Ducati 350 Desmo, a BSA 441 Victor and a 850 Dunstall Norton.

Except the five I still have, hardly a one wasn’t sold before it’s time...

'92 MBz 300CE Sportlined 175K Blk/wine orig paint/int
‘94 MBz E320 wagon
'62 Volvo Amazon 65K mile time capsule

One lucky guy...

Those with an * are currently owned by me. Yes, I'm crazy, owning 7 BMWs at the same time, plus a pickup, a Jeep, and an Equinox.

1964 Ford Falcon- high school & college. Beat that poor car to death.

1972 Chevy Vega-only new car I ever bought. Traded it in on the 1970 Firebird in 1975.

1963 Ford F100-bought from my first father-in-law, ex wife took it when we split up

1978 Opel Kadett- first wifes car, went back with her in the breakup

1970 Pontiac Firebird- sold it to buy an engagement ring for second wife. If I had driven the pickup to work the night the first wife left with everything I owned I'd have lost the Firebird.

1978 Chevy Monza-bought from my brother after his wife got three speeding tickets in it in one month.

1982 Buick Century-bought from inlaws, became wifes car

1986 Chevy Celebrity- work car for me

1987 Chevy Celebrity-liked the first one so much I bought another one from my parents. Put over 200k miles on each.

1992 Chevy Lumina Euro- bought for wife after the Buick bit the dust

1995 Mercury Villager- replacement for the Lumina after it went belly-up

1996 Chevy S10- inherited from my dad at his passing in 2006, totaled by an idiot in a Lexus that ran a stop sign in 2008. I loved that truck.

*1995 BMW 318is- bought for my daughter to commute while working on her Master's degree in History. I fell instantly in love with BMWs, but it was several years before I bought one for me. Now my daughter bought a different car, so I got the 318is back.

1995 Chevy Blazer- replacement for the totaled S10

*2003 Ford F-150- bought from neighbor in 2011after selling the Blazer. Needed a pickup then, now I wish I had the Blazer back.

*2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee- bought for wife at same time as the F-150.

*1993 BMW 325is-bought as project track car, still waiting to finish it.

*1985 BMW 635CSi-bought for $625 from a retired couple when they could no longer operate the clutch. Used to belong to one of the Miami Dolphins, but that's all I could find out.

*1984 BMW 633CSi-given to me by my best friend, Eddie, after he bought it from a fellow BMWCCA member for $400. It was from an abandoned vehicle police auction. Previously belonged to a restauranteur and wheeler dealer who disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

*1987 BMW 325is- another Eddie project car he tired of. I finished it and use it at least once a week. He had generously bought it from the girl that owned the 95 M3 (see below) when she needed money more than the car.

*1995 BMW M3- very sad story you can read about on Bimmerfest.com, in the E36 forum, thread title "BMW Tattoos-In Memory of Amber"

*1985 BMW 325e-Eddie's first project BMW, took us 5 years to restore it. Now it's my daily driver

*2013 Chevy Equinox- wife's vehicle when she could no longer get into the Jeep easily
