OBC button light replacement

Post by emac »

I drove my 87 last night and noticed the lights on the OBC buttons were not working. No issues with the LCD or backlight, just the buttons were dark.

I did some reading and there is a small twist dash type bulb that does the button lights on the back of the OBC. I tried to remove it through the radio hole with a small pair of pliers but I just couldnt get it. Read some more on here in the technical article section and came across a thread about making a socket to remove it. I cut a piece metal and bent it into a square using a new bulb as a guide. Worked perfect! I was able to remove the old one and install the new one through the radio hole. Thank you BC forum! Thought I would share the good news.

First photo taken with my scope camera of the bulb on the back of the OBC
