Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
I recently bought my first 635CSi (1985) and while the repaint is marginal and I'll eventually redo the arktisblau metallic, the interior is a pristine blue, sort of midway between a royal and navy blue. In what little research I've done on a few sites, I don't see that the '85 interior came in blue, meaning I may have a completely reupholstered setup or it was all redyed. ALL the leather is in fantastic shape with no tears or rips anywhere.
Anyone know if blue WAS an interior option for that year? Or maybe another year? Looks great but just can't find it as an option.

I have and had several BMWs with pacific blue #204 interior.

Pacific Blue
I have a 1983 633CSi with a Pacific Blue interior. There are (at least) two blue interiors. To my knowledge, the Pacific Blue is lighter than the other blue, which is more of a navy, to my eye.
I am attaching a picture of my Pacific Blue interior.
FYI, I have since removed my Pacific Blue comfort seats and replaced them with Black Recaros. My comforts are available for purchase if anyone has an interest.

Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
My e24 with blue interior is an M, but I've never seen anything suggesting that there were M-only colors in 1985. I've seen the blue interior in cars that were white, silver, and blue, and I think it is one of the nicer colors.piperbill wrote:I recently bought my first 635CSi (1985) and while the repaint is marginal and I'll eventually redo the arktisblau metallic, the interior is a pristine blue, sort of midway between a royal and navy blue. Kronus: Hello there! This picture you posted... the interior color is much darker than my Pacific blau on my US Spec. '83. Is it possible your interior is another shade of blue? Or were the pacific blau colors different depending on the year of manufacture or maybe euro vs. non-euro?

Thanks for the kind words. Those pictures were taken during reassembly, so they aren't great pics. The car has 99k miles on it, but had been more or less abandoned at a repair shop where it baked in the sun for five years. As a result, the dash and front seats were literally toasted (along with the paint and rubber trim). I have replaced the front seat upholstery, dash, and upper door panels. The back seats carpet, and door cards are original. Some pictures of the car can be seen at the link in my sig, but I didn't document nearly enough as I resurrected the car. Here's some back seat pics (also taken during the process).

Great looking interior, Woody! Thanks for posting these pics!
Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
I have returned to try and set the record straight. The attached photo includes an original seat of a blue color I am not aware of the name or code of, and a 3209 Blue (quoted as "pacific blue" by GAHH) redye job I’ve just completed of its sibling. Clearly, not the same color.
Anyone have a guess of the color code of the blue seat on the left?

Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
ok, mystery maybe solved.
judging by the internet archive of e-24.ru, what "Pacific Blue" means changed over from Pacific Blue #160/#176 to Pacific Blue #204, and also became a lot lighter.

I've ordered a can of what Leather Magic calls "#167 Pacific Blue", in the hope that they've just messed up labeling it. We'll see if it is a step in the right direction from this later, lighter Pacific Blue.

Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
for the purposes of Science, I have now also acquired the correct color dye for early Pacific Blue, and redyed my other rear seat with it.
The new dye is a 100% match for early Pacific Blue (77-83). It is "BMW167 Pacific Blue" from Leather Magic (https://www.leathermagic.com/bmw-interior-colors/)

Looks great, good colour match!

Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
There’s about a sixth of a 200ml can on it now, brushed on with the applicator they provide. I plan to do another coat with the aerosol setup, so probably a quarter can per seat?
Re: Blue interior in a 1985 non-M?
Excellent, pretty good coverage for a small can then.
Thanks!
