Rear interior redo - a follow-up to the cupholder saga

Post by GRNSHRK »

Well gents, it was inevitable, once I completed refinishing the door cards, adding beer, er, cupholders and whatnot, the rear section wasn't going to take a back seat, pun intended

And once I had a hand at applying the Leatherique product with this cool sprayer, off I went \:D/

I should also point out that I kinda "had" to pull the parcel shelf anyway, as I was having some tint work done in the rear windshield, the original was lifting after 27 years, go figure :-"

So the side panels, speaker covers and all related plastic bits got redyed, and the parcel shelf got recovered with matching vinyl to replace the carpet which came with the upgraded parcel shelf I added years ago, which never really matched anyway :-?

The pix really don't show how dirty all of these parts really were, but trust me, it all looks much better in person =D>

Oh, and I finally recovered the "B" pillar cover which was also still original black, and all scuffed up [-(

The drivers side had been done eons ago, when I moved the battery to the trunk, I ran the positive cable inside along that side, so that cover came out and got recovered back then, just glad to finally have both done

Looking new, nicely done. Sometimes I wish my car's were at that level, I guess it's just a matter of time.

I used to have that much ambition, sadly, no longer. I'm happy to just keep my Bimmers on the road.

That interior is spectacular. 👍

Very nice, nice touch for the hand strap. My interior is still a work in progress. Photo of buffalo leather rear seats, Havanna Brown.

GRNSHRK,
What cool sprayer did you use to dye the leather?

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words gents =D>

I have to admit that even though I'm on the smaller side ( 5' 7" 150 pounds) it was a PITA to get back in there what seemed to be a few hundred times ](*,)

Roger, the grab handles are stock, your later model doesn't have them ? :-k

Those seats are looking nice, I only cleaned and treated mine, with Gliptone, love the aroma \:D/

Bob, the sprayer is made by Preval, no idea where I even got this stuff, but I did see that my local Home Depot has the replacement power cartridges, presumed to have the complete kits as well :-"

I would only recommend using this setup with water soluble paints and dyes, thankfully Leatherique products are

You simply pour the paint/dye into the bottle and screw the cartridge on top, the aerosol draws the paint/dye up and sprays it out like a rattle can, easy peasy

Leonard, all in due time, don't forget that I'm retired and have plenty of time on my hands #-o

Thanks GRNSHRK,

I used that system when I re-flocked my gauge cluster.

Worked great once I diluted the mixture.

On to the next project--redoing the seats.
