e24 window mod, still around?

Post by Austintatious »

Hey everyone, I remember a window mod that someone did long ago... Basically it lowered the front windows about 1 inch whenever the doors were opened... this was to let the window tuck up into the trim, as it tends to hang on the outiside if the door is closed with the window all the way up.

Does anyone know where I can find info on that modification? I put in a new window seal and this would be very nice to have.

Here's a couple of past discussions on Auto-Drop/Lift & Auto-Trap functionality. The e31 & e36 cabrio's are the earliest BMW chassis fitted with the system that I'm aware of.

DLvad,

thanks for the references... I really do remember someone long ago on another board successfully doing this mod. I cant remember the name of the board and I think that BMW board is lost to history at this point.

I do not think I am savvy enough to come up with a solution on my own... I just know it would be quite nice to have. I always push on the top of the glass when closing the door from the outside and roll them down a bit before closing from the inside.

Perhaps I can adjust the angle of the glass to cause it slip into place better.
