FS UK RHD M635CSi #183
#183 appears to be in fine fettle – as one would expect after circa £100K spent on its restoration.
The car is for sale via an online auction, starting on 4th February.

I wonder what happened to the headlight washers/wipers.
They are ALWAYS rustier than you thought!!!!!!

Well spotted. Are they difficult to repair once they have seized up?

The mechanical parts can be broken down with judicial use of penetrating oil and a gas flame.Hammerhead wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 10:58 pm Well spotted. Are they difficult to repair once they have seized up?
The main problem is the motor itself. When it was assembled at the manufacturers, the last thing they
did was, using a very heavy potting compound, fill in the top of the motor. This covered all the wiring.
I've tried various ways of removing this compound none of which were successful! So I now have about 10
motors that are to all intents and purposes SCRAP.
If anyone has managed to overcome this problem PLEASE let me know.

Re: FS UK RHD M635CSi #183
Before looking in detail, and given earlier positive comments, I expected to see a car in much better condition.
Shouldn't the current MOT state that it's had a new speedo ie that the odometer reading is not a true reflection of actual mileage?

Re: FS UK RHD M635CSi #183
The tester will just note the current odometer reading.
A rather nice motor which just goes to prove that money spent in restorers’ workshops is seldom recuperated.
Shame about the fuel filler door which could have been better-adjusted?
Re: FS UK RHD M635CSi #183
I've never needed to do it, but from where/what is the filler flap adjusted?
