New Member Introduction

Post by jonty72 »

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right forum for introductions but I just wanted to introduce myself after purchasing my first E24 635Csi.

I am up in Northern NSW and have already found this site to be a wealth of information and great advice. Good to see there are some diehard E24 fans in Oz too !

Photo of my new addition is attached.

PS This was on the carsales.com.au site this week https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/d ... ow-114164/

Regards

Jason

Welcome Jason. This forum is a beacon of friendship compared to most others. So much knowledge and help here.

I lived in Port Macquarie for many years. You anywhere near there ?

Cool ! Whilst WA has been good for me (mining/oil/gas) I can't wait to get back home to Port Macquarie one day.

Thanks ozbmwnut - yes some very desireable BMW's on that list.

I was in Germany in July and managed to get myself on the BMW factory tour in Munich as well as the Museum.....some outstanding classic vehicles and bikes as well as very interesting to see how manufacturing has changed. They apparently use ostrich feathers to remove all the dust before painting

Baders - I think the beer prices in Port would also be a welcome change...over $16 for a pint when I was in Bunbury last year....ouch

Cheers daz365 - I was on facebook for a few years but not anymore. Nice car by the way......#1887204 not too far removed from my #1887031 and the schwarz is such a nice colour (is yours Diamond Schwarz 181 like mine as the paint code 086 seems different ? I think mine has metallic paint).

Is it just me or are the prices BMW Oz charge astronomical for old parts ? I have been sourcing bits and pieces off Wallothnesch.com who seem a lot more reasonable even with shipping and customs....

Gday Jason - welcome and congratulations on the new car. It looks pretty good & tidy. Show us some more pictures when you can.

And no mate, it's not just you - BMW Oz pricing is ridiculous, especially when it comes to the majority of E24-specific stuff. But the internet and postage makes owning these cars significantly more realistic & achievable. Wallothnesch is good, and I've used pelicanparts.com and schmiedmann.com as well.
