That's some seriously wishful pricing. Yikes!

The market is crazy. That is a one-of-one piece that will likely never show up for sale again. Yes its $3000, no I'm not affiliated, but he will probably get it.

Thanks for lookin' out SF!
Dang...and I thought I was a tough guy at 1500.
Ralph, Im Really outta touch with the market, is the market really 3K crazy?...I guess on a 60K garage queen or concourse princess...mine is just a hot little 34 year old and she still wants it! I guess its the Dinan springs, brakes, cam gear and chip she wears that makes her think she needs this.
Ralph, why is it a 1/1 piece, they made these for sale separate from outside of in house Dinan upgrade work for awhile didn't they?
Maybe you just mean we haven't seen one for sale in forever, especially NOS.

Hey guys what do you recommend in place of the Dinan?

Believe it or not, this one is as strong or stronger than the Dinan. Notice it is solid. No joint between the mounting ring and strut bar=no undesirable flex.

I have no connection to the seller or the company that makes them. I have the E36 version on my M3. It is well made and seemed to make considerable difference in front end stability when the car is drive aggressively.

Thanks Ken!
I will check it out.
I remember years ago when I was often driving the M6 in a extremely spirited way on a windy road that at certain times had almost no traffic.
The Six stuck to the road in turns at speeds that she really should not have as well as she did. I wondered how she could possibly perform any better with a strut bar? I researched it for awhile and there was a lot of debate about Solid vs Pivot...I never really did figure out which would be best and if the rear was something I should do as well. I remember leaning toward solid fixed front and rear if the Dinan was not in the cards.

Wow. I was very interested in one of these as well, but not now. At some point you would expect Dinan to notice. Even a small batch run might be worthwhile.

I don't have strut bars on either E24, but have them on the 95 M3 and one of my two E30s. The difference was most noticeable on the M3, but I expect that's because the E36 front end is more limber than the chunky E30. Both of them are solid bars, no joints. I have a jointed one on the 318 E36, but that seldom got driven hard enough to notice if it helped. It was my daughter's daily driver until she ran it completely out of oil, destroying the little 4-banger.

Not likely to see a brand new Donan strut bar again. Chances of it being for sale is even less. If Dinan were to resupply, prices would drop drastically so there's no incentive for them.

Yes prices are crazy. A new M-Tech steering wheel just sold for over $2k. It's not just BMW, I just sold an MBZ Acculux glovebox light for over $200. One-of parts command a name-your-price situation. Look up E10 Diagnostic Port Cover on eBay. Tell me that's not crazy 😜

Good points. I sold an e30 cassette tape console (NIB) for an e30 for $200. I paid that much for a vintage Barbour jacket. It comes down to how bad do you want something. For the e30 owner it completed a period correct look he wanted; just as the jacket does for me.

Yeeoow! I should have bought a strut brace along with the chip when I was visiting Dinan way back in 1999. Missed my chance; now they've evidently become quite collectible. Never saw that coming; indeed, time changes everything.

Racing Dynamics strut braces are a good alternative and are still available new. I have one on both my E28 and E24, and the difference in rigidity is noticeable. They're also easy to remove for better accessibility when working around the engine, which happens quite frequently.
