I think I just killed my stock stereo by trying to play a cassette

Post by ATXE24 »

Hey guys, new to the forum and E24 ownership. Hoping someone can help me with my stereo issue. I finally found an old cassette tape to try out my stock tape deck n my '86 E24. I popped the tape in, it made some mechanical noise but didn't engage or go down into the player. Wouldn't play or eject. Eject function makes some noise but nothing happens. I managed to get the tape out by prying it out, but now the stereo thinks it still has a cassette in it and I can't get the radio to play. Tried pulling the fuse to the stereo, no luck. Tried disconnecting the battery and re-entering the stereo code, still no luck. Tried re-inserting the cassette and prying it back out, no luck. Did I just kill my stereo? Anyone have a similar issue or any advice for me? Thanks!

Hi there

not sure you are still interested, but if you 'pried' the cassette out, and the radio thinks the cassette is still in, then you will need to replace the tape deck in the radio. Reach out at bradnic at oemhifi.com and I'll get you set up.
