Refurbished CM5908 Slider Radio w/Bluetooth SOLD

Post by Jordanmilos »

SOLD

Thank you to those who inquired.

Up for sale is a refurbished Alpine CM5908 pulled from a 1990 e30 325i sedan. As seen in the photos the radio does show some wear, but is in great cosmetic condition.

The capacitors controlling speaker outputs have been replaced and the volume potentiometer has been cleaned and re-soldered to its circuit board.

The sound on all four speaker outputs comes through clear and even. The volume control is great, but not perfect. For a 35 year old radio, more than good enough.

The star of the show is the Cantaloupe Bluetooth board that is now in place of the cassette mechanism. Cantaloupe really did just an absolutely amazing job with the design. Seamless control when it comes to music streaming and hands-free calling.

This particular board is the early design, containing all of the high quality components that are not available now due to chip shortages.

The radio will come as pictured, Bluetooth installed and ready to go, along with a microphone for hands free calling. The hardest part will be routing the mic.

The bonus bits include some of the original radio literature, with both code cards and anti-theft window stickers. See pictures for specifics.

The Bluetooth module alone now costs $350. Couple that with a decent working CM5908, and you’ll be lucky to escape without paying over $600.I’m not asking for top dollar and am open to offers. $375 OBO.

Asking price includes shipping. Located in Dulles, Virginia.

Very cool to see one of these. That’s an original Cantaloupe radio kit. This is a great bargain for someone looking for basic functional BT. You can also add a center console microphone adapter for the original mic, or replace it if needed
