Coil over suspension for a pre 82 car

Post by bpoliakoff »

Hardware is new, struts machined for the coil over adjuster to fit over. The springs are Eibach, the hardware is not branded. Shocks are Bil sports front and rear and rebound as they should. The rears are missing the circlips to adjust the spring perches, cheap from Bil. The rubber bearing mounts for the struts are used.Backing plates if wanted, are solid but will need straightening along the edges. $835 plus shipping CONUS

Do you still have this setup? Haven't done much to my 82 633csi's suspension, other than acquire new Blisters for it. Curious how these coil overs would work with my stock strut tubes.

BCMac - You would have to run a circumferential weld on the outside of your strut tube for the aluminum threaded collar to sit against.

All that I have left are the strut housings and yes they have a weld bead as you show. But, since these are for a pre 82 car, they probably won't work on your car

Ah, okay. A circumferential weld makes sense. Not sure I'd want to go that route. My very late E12-based car needs new springs. May have to have a set made.
