Re: Motor mount replacement interval?
@wattsmonkey- nailed it. Exactly my experience and observations.

Hmm. Some more pics from Bring a Trailer. Seems like the Euros have cylindrical mounts left and right, and the US vehicles have the non-cylindrical left and right. Here are a couple of euros.

And another US 635 (non-M).

Re: Motor mount replacement interval?
My search continues. I am now 4 and zero. Four orders placed (each time with the website stating in-stock), each time the vendor cancelled because it wasn't in stock and they were unavailable. What a pain. Of course, I won't give up that easily. I placed a 5th order from an outfit in Tennessee. The list 5 available. We shall see.
Interesting about how all these different combinations of motor mount types. I guess the different types are interchangeable.
OK, the saga continues.

I'm not sure I would consider them interchangeable. From my review of Bring a Trailer vehicles they are consistent.
Let me know if I'm missing something.

More information:
I was at the BMW dealer picking up some suspension parts and asked the parts advisor about 635 (non-M) motor mounts. Below is the print out from their parts system. Looks like the cylindrical mounts are used left and right for builds 9/82 to 1/87, and the non-cylindrical are used left and right from 1/87 on.
That does not seem to align with the likely factory-produced versions I've seen on Bring a Trailer, but I guess they are substituting? More info, less certainty!
