I really did it this time

Post by smtguy »

I screwed up. I had my cluster out (as I have many times) to resolder the speedometer connector joints and managed to bend the speedo needle ](*,) Where can I get a replacement, or is replacing it something an instrument shop needs to do to be right?
Thanks.

I snagged mine while cleaning the IC, managed to straighten it after the appropriate number of four letter words. It's an extremely fiddly job, but unless the needle is really badly kinked, it can be straightened.

there is a shop that rebuilds them. they might have some extra ones.

E28 shares the same cluster internals. if you can find one a bit cheaper that way.

Unfortunately the needle is kinked and the shaft is bent.
Anyone have a spare speedo for sale?

I may have one for 83/84 cars. Some were marked only to 140 mph instead on 160 like later cars. I could be wrong as I have e12, e24 and e28s so I could be getting it mixed up

Hi Ralph,
Yes, my original goes to 140mph. If you have one how much do you want for it?
Thank you,

Depending on your location, I can likely get one to you for about $100 or less
