How to easily clean these bodyparts?

Post by 635sharknose »

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning this easily?

It is dry dirt which is not easy to remove. I can remove it with sandpaper, but I can't get it clean with water or brake cleaner. It is also not easy because the surfaces contain structure and are not easy to reach.

I have no experience with this kind of dirt. I have cleaned a lot of cars but those were European cars that have lived in a humid climate. That dirt is relatively easy to remove. However, this car is from California and I have the feeling that that dirt is different and much more dried in.

Pressure washer. Dirt is dirt. You get it wet enough and hit it with enough pressure, it'll come off.

There may be rough sprayed-on anti-rust coating on the surface. You'll want that to stay.

Thanks for your help Ken. Sadly that is not an option as the car is indoors and I am not able to roll it outside.

I think what you're seeing is the dirt on the uneven surface of the undercoating.

Will you be able to use water on it at all?

Soft and pliable or hard and solid ?

Former , heat gun and selection of scrapers , selection of small wire cup brushes on a flexible shaft , small die grinder . remove the petrol flap area and wash .
Latter, air chisel with blunted blades , hand chisels , scrapers and die grinder , stiff hand wire brushes. new petrol flap... :D

Put some heavy duty plastic sheet under car with 2 x 2 edgings for retention and soak the areas with warm water , if it spills it'll dry up again.

Take a sample of the "dirt" and soak in a container to see if it dissolves or softens .

I would also use a pressure washer and squeegee the water out the garage.

Thanks guys. The problem is it's hard to reach with a brush.
I used a electrical driven metal brush on the easy to reach spots, that worked just fine but in the hard to reach areas it impossible.
I think I will have to go with the wet pressure wash option and dry out the garage.
Thanks.
