Hi guys
Just picked up an '89 635csi yesterday.
I've been wanting an E24 for 30 years now and I finally got one!!
This is a one-owner car with 78k miles. The paint and interior is pretty flawless and aside from the odometer, everything seems to work as it should.
Here's a pic with her younger cousin...My E46 325ci.

Very nice!
The odometer is a relatively easy fix. There are a couple of companies that offer replacement gears for the odometer. It's a mildly tedious job to remove the instrument cluster and swap the crumbled gears, but worth it. Inexpensive too.

Just did it with gears from odometergears.com. The actual swap was easy, and they’re car guys so when I called them they were very helpful. The PITA was getting the dash cluster out. Most important was to keep the play in the original stepper motor and not put the gear up tight with no play.hornhospital wrote: ↑Sun Nov 15, 2020 5:21 am Very nice!

Thanks for the help guys! I'll check out odometergears.com. I'm fairly familiar with working on older BMWs. I've owned two e30s so hopefully it won't be a huge learning curve.
After really getting a chance to drive it I noticed a couple other issues...
- Battery was dead in the morning but started just fine after a jump. Autozone said the battery was good but diagnosed it as a bad voltage regulator.
- SLS is constantly cycling every 30 seconds or so.
I'm taking it to a shop in a couple days for a full look at the car and hopefully he can tell me any other issues it has. I have a great BMW shop (Guten Parts and Service) that I trust.
In the meantime, these little issues are not stopping me from loving this car!! I even broke out my old cassettes to get the proper 80s BMW experience.

I'm an idiot and had a total brain fart.
Odometer works.
Tach does not work.
Not sure why I had the word odometer in my head.
