My blinkers (and emergency flashers) are starting to work less often. Sometimes they work fine all day, sometimes they don't work at all, sometimes they work, then don't, then work again.
I assume I need a new flasher relay cube, but I don't know where it resides in my 1985 Euro E24. I've read a few threads on this list which have said:
Under the steering column under the right knee
Under the steering column to the left
Under the steering column secured to the steering column
I have three cube relays under the steering column to the left, two normal size (yellow), one tall (black).
Does anyone know if any of these are the flasher cube relay? If not, can you help me find it?
Thanks.

Tall black one is the flasher. Pull it and it should have a reference number.

Here is a better picture of the tall relay.
According to others with the same part number for sale on the internet, this is for interior lighting relay and has 5 pins.
This is the one I bought.
The symbols seem to make sense for a switching relay, and is a 3 pin relay.
The orange cube relays are standard automotive 4 pin relays so that's not the right place.
Any other suggestions on the location of the original one for me to swap out?

Success! A friend of mine suggested that I look underneath the steering column plastic cover (three Phillip's head screws hold it up).
The flasher relay is mounted on the right side of the column.
Swapped out with the new one and it works!

Re: Occasional blinker/flasher drop out
I've also had issues with the flasher and led bulbs. I installed a 3 prong adjustable flash speed relay. when I hooked the instrument panel indicator light to the load terminal it flashed , even though the stalk was in neutral position. I had to disconnect the wire so no indicator for me. the lights work fine otherwise. I'm thinking maybe a small resistor inline may help, maybe not. Anyone else have any thoughts. TIA!
